Domain Who Is ? Directories

To find domains and their registrants on the Internet one generally uses a so-called "Who Is" directory.

Two such "Who Is" websites - frequently used - are:

Network Solutions WhoIs

and

Allwhois

The Network Solutions Enhanced WhoIs Directory is described onsite as:

• "Comprehensive search across multiple WHOIS databases. Includes all domains, extensions regardless of where they are registered. No need to visit multiple WHOIS Directories.
• Smart WHOIS Report shows the status of the domain. If a live site exists presents a thumbnail of the home page along with the website title, traffic ranking, meta descriptions and keywords, and more.
• Information is presented in a simple, easy to read format."

Search is possible by

• Domain Name (e.g. networksolutions.com)
• NIC Handle (e.g. vs1234)
• IP Address (e.g. 216.168.224.69)

Allwhois describes itself as:

"a free service provided by Alldomains.com, is the most complete whois service on the internet. It automatically locates the appropriate "whois" database server for a particular domain name, queries that database for information about that domain name, and returns all available data.

In addition, a domain name availability check will also be performed, even if a particular domain extension doesn't have a searchable whois database...."
